Biography

Gert-Jan Heerens (B.Eng) is a Business and Program Manager in Geo-Energy at TNO Applied Physics in the Netherlands. With over 34 years of experience, he specializes in domain-overarching systems innovation, having held various R&D positions in machinery engineering, food processing, the paper industry, electronic manufacturing, semiconductor industries, and energy for global industry and academic research. He excels in driving innovations and has played a key role in the development of several new products, consortia, patents, and papers. As the initiator of the research center for sustainable geo-energy in Rijswijk, now part of TNO, he is advancing current large diameter ultra deep borehole technology for waste disposal.
