Biography

Derek received his BS and MS degrees in chemical engineering from Washington State University in the fields of electrokinetic separations and mathematical modeling. He is currently working as a materials scientist in a glass science laboratory at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, WA where his research includes the operation of a laboratory-scale melter for vitrifying nuclear waste simulant and the analysis of glass and cold-cap products designed for the development of a mathematical model of a nuclear waste glass melter.
