Biography

Lee Sims serves as the Director of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Program for the SRNS management team, a position he’s held since November of 2024. Prior to taking this role, Lee held the position of K Area Complex (KAC) Facility Manager (FM). As FM, Lee was responsible for the safe storage and processing of the DOE-EM/NNSA surplus plutonium inventory. This includes oversight of continued plutonium consolidation efforts from both domestic and international sources and disposition of downblended materials to the WIPP facility. Before coming to KAC, Lee spent over 10 years in H-Area facilities working on Pu/U/Np missions, with a focus on associated glovebox operations.
