Dr. Ranganathan Parthasarathy is currently an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at Tennessee State University. His research encompasses multi-scale multi-physics material modeling and experimental characterization. He has developed chemo-mechanical models to predict swelling and mechanical behavior of crosslinked polymers and soft collagenous tissue. He has also developed chemometrics based phase diagrams for phase separation in hydrophilic-hydrophobic monomers. Dr. Parthasarathy has also worked on atomistic-to-continuum bridging, particularly on definitions of atomic level residual stress and strain in application to estimation of residual stress from diffraction methods, amorphization of single crystals and shear transformations in metallic glasses. He has also developed micromechanics-based homogenization techniques for rapid high throughput screening of lattice structures.
