Dr. Jacimária Batista teaches and conducts research in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Construction at the University of Nevada Las Vegas where she has been in the faculty since 1997. She has received eight teaching awards at the University, college, and department levels. Her research involves technology development for water and wastewater systems that combine biological and physico-chemical processes. Dr. Batista conducts experimental research to develop new treatment technologies and also to solve specific problems in the water industry. She has investigated the removal of several contaminants (e.g. perchlorate, chromium, selenium, arsenic, cyanide, ammonia)
