Mike Fairweather is professor of Thermofluids and Combustion, with research interests focussed on the development and use of computational fluid dynamic techniques. He was involved in the UK EPSRC KNOO and DIAMOND projects, was principal investigator of the DISTINCTIVE programme, and is currently principal investigator of the TRANSCEND consortium, all of which addressed nuclear waste management issues. He has held four EPSRC grants of relevance to nuclear reactor flows and an EC FP7 grant on advanced fuels for Generation IV reactors. He has undertaken many projects funded entirely by the nuclear industry, and routinely carries out consultancy work on their behalf.
