Biography

Stuart MacLachlan is head of R&D at Lucideon in Stoke-on-Trent, United Kingdom. He has an MSc in Materials Science and Technology from the University of Manchester and an MBA from the Open University. His career has focused on applied research and development of ceramic, metal and glass systems, example areas include high energy batteries, lightweight armour and ceramic additive manufacturing. Recently he has worked closely with Lucideon’s group developing geopolymers for both construction products and waste encapsulation. Stuart is also an experienced project manager and a firm advocate of the benefits of R&D collaboration with both industrial and academic partners.
