Biography

Dr. Liu is an internationally recognized leader, principal investigator, theorist, experimenter, innovator, educator, and manager of materials and engineering programs related to nuclear fission, fusion, advanced fossil energy systems, and packaging for storage, transportation, and disposal of nuclear and other radioactive material -- including spent nuclear fuel and high-level waste. In addition, he has conducted basic and applied research on the properties and behavior of materials in extreme high-temperature and irradiation environments. Dr. Liu has over 300 publications in journals, conferences, book chapters, and reports; five U.S. patents, and one software copyright.
