Biography

Kate has worked at Quintessa Ltd. for the last seven years, primarily on coupled numerical modelling of different aspects of geological disposal systems for radioactive waste. She works on projects that develop approaches to representing thermal, hydraulic and mechanical processes in bentonite, as well as supporting large scale field studies such as the FE experiment at Mont Terri in Switzerland and the FEBEX-DP experiment at Grimsel in Switzerland. Kate has experience of assessing the thermal implications for disposal of a variety of waste forms and is interested in modelling gas migration through engineered materials and the geosphere.
