Biography

Ms. Maria Karla Sotolongo is a Graduate Research Assistant at the Florida International University’s Applied Research Center in Miami, Florida, and a Graduate Intern at Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL); where she is the main research scientist in a project funded by DOE-SRNL-MSIPP. This project involves the development of: • robotic mechanisms, platforms, and inspection tools, • autonomous aerial and ground platform for long-term surveillance of nuclear facilities, repositories, and disposal cells, • inspection and prediction of concrete structures for DOE facilities such as the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant and Saltstone Disposal Units tanks at Savannah River National Laboratory. Before working at FIU and SRNL, Maria Karla worked as a Design Intern at Northrop Grumman Corporation where
