Biography

Tanner Goins is an Electrical Engineer in the Instrumentation, Robotics, and Imaging Systems group at the Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL). Tanner joined SRNL in 2021 and has applied his robotics and automation experience to the DOE Surplus Plutonium Disposition Program, predominantly designing, developing, and implementing robotic systems for the safe handling, inspection, and manipulation of Criticality Control Overpacks throughout the Savannah River Site. These automation efforts implement ALARA dose reduction, increase throughput, and save money. Tanner also supports the DOE-EM wearable robotic initiative to protect and enable the DOE workforce.
