Biography

Dr. Venugopal K. Varma is a distinguished engineer and group leader of the remote systems group in fusion energy division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He is involved in projects related to manipulator design, kinematics, dynamics, and control. His work focuses on development of remote tools for hazardous environment. Currently he is working on in-situ repair of plasma facing components using additive manufacturing for fusion pilot plant and developing a mobile WorkCell for environmental remediation. He has four patents in the area of sensors/actuators and mechanical design.
