Biography

Chen Gruber is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Gruber’s current research focuses on water-rock-cement interaction along carbonate rocks and cement interfaces and how it might affect cement integrity and the fate of radionuclide transport to the environment from intermediate depth boreholes used for radioactive waste disposal. The research combining reactive transport modeling and laboratory experiments for in-depth understanding of both the partitioning of major and trace constituents between solids/aqueous/gaseous phases as well as transport (e.g., diffusion advection and moisture transport) processes.
