Biography

Luke Golding is a final-year PhD student at the Immobilisation Science Laboratory, University of Sheffield, where his research addresses key challenges in high-level nuclear waste disposal. His work focuses on deep borehole disposal, with a particular emphasis on the structural integrity of waste packages under extreme environmental conditions. Utilising advanced engineering modelling, including finite element modelling and computational fluid dynamics, Luke applies his academic background in Mechanical Engineering (MEng) to help develop innovative solutions for safe and long-term containment. Beyond his academic pursuits, Luke is an avid squash player and actively engages in 3-D printing projects.
