Biography

Matt Waples is Director of Engineering at Deep Isolation, a company focused on deep borehole disposal of spent nuclear fuel and high-level radioactive waste wherever practicable. He is lead for a number of projects and leads Deep Isolation on canister design and analyses, economic studies, quality assurance, regulatory evaluation, and contributes in a variety of other topics. Matt earned his BS in Materials Science & Engineering from Georgia Tech and his MS in Mechanical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School. He also holds a PE license, PMP certification, and a LEED AP (BD+C) certification.
