Thomas David Burleigh is a professor of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering at New Mexico Tech in Socorro, New Mexico. He has been a faculty member at NMT since 2001 and specializes in the corrosion of metals and in metallurgical failure analysis. After his PhD, he continued research in photoelectrochemistry and passivity under Professor Dr. Heinz Gerischer at the Fritz Haber Institute MPI in West Berlin. Dr. Burleigh also worked in the corrosion group at Alcoa Technical Center designing alloys and corrosion tests. He held several positions in the Materials Science and Engineering Department at the University of Pittsburgh.
