Nuclear Waste Services
Lucy Bailey is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics and an Honorary Professor in the Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences at the University of Manchester in the UK. Lucy launched the Research Support Office at Nuclear Waste Services in 2020, working with universities to develop and deliver a needs-driven academic research programme to underpin the UK’s geological disposal facility. Lucy’s background is in the long-term safety case for geological disposal. She has over 30 years’ experience in the safety assessment of radioactive wastes, specialising in the development of sound safety case approaches that aid communication. Lucy is currently Chief of Disposal Safety at NWS in the UK.
