Laura is a Principal Member of Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories and has been working on disposal of radioactive waste for 30 years. She has worked on disposal of transuranic waste in boreholes at the Nevada Test Site, the postclosure performance assessment for Yucca Mountain, leading a qualitative evaluation of disposal options for the DOE’s SNF and HLW, developing a database of the wastes that might be disposed of in a defense waste repository, studying the consequences of postclosure criticality on repository performance, and evaluating how the characteristics of spent advanced nuclear reactor fuel might affect repository performance.
