Applied Research Center - FIU
Joel Adams is a Ph.D. student in Mechanical Engineering at Florida International University (FIU). While pursuing his bachelor’s degree, Joel joined the robotics lab at the Applied Research Center (ARC) where he developed software for different robotic platforms, and shortly after, he was inducted as a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Fellow. His research now focuses on autonomous robotic platforms that perform surveillance at nuclear facilities. His belief that robots should perform tasks that for humans would be dangerous or mundane makes him feel like his research can promote positive change in the world.
