Nicholas T. Espinal is an undergraduate Department of Energy Fellow at Florida International University pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. He plans to pursue his PhD. after Fall 2024 graduation. His interests are mechanical design and robotics. He has worked under Dr. Mayren Echeverria in evaluating protective coatings for the H-Canyon Exhaust Tunnel's (HCAEX) concrete walls. He has also worked under Mr. Joseph Sinicrope in evaluating foam fixatives designated for the removal of contaminated pipes at Savannah River Site.. Currently, he works under Mr. Mackenson Telusma in the design of a robotic platform which will apply the protective coating.
