Biography

Dr. Monken Fernandes is an environmental remediation specialist at the IAEA. Before that he was a researcher at the Brazilian Nuclear Energy Commission. Current activities include supporting IAEA Member States to implement their D&ER projects, writing technical reports and organising high-level missions in Member states. In Brazil his activities included technical and scientific support to the licencing and control of nuclear installations, research in the field of environmental sciences. Dr Monken-Fernandes holds a .B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering (Rio de Janeiro State University), M.Sc. and D.Sc. in Environmental Geochemistry (Fluminense Federal University) and a Post-Doc in Environmental Engineering at the Central Florida University.
