Biography

Dr. Rocío Raña is the co-founder and CEO of BLAST, a research-based bilingual literacy assessment platform designed to empower dual language students and the educators that serve them. She has over 15 years of experience in bilingual literacy research and assessment development, and teaches courses on bilingualism and second language acquisition at the City University of New York. Dr. Raña’s work is grounded in the belief that bilingualism is a powerful asset that should be nurtured, and that by shifting how we measure success, we can unlock academic and economic opportunities for the next generation of bilingual and multilingual students. She has published extensively in her areas of expertise and her projects have been funded by the National Science Foundation and NewSchools Venture Fund, among other organizations.
