Biography

Dr. Bret van den Akker is the Director of Nuclear Fuel Cycle Technology at NAC International and is an expert in the repository performance of used nuclear fuel with an emphasis on the interaction of UNF with the near- and far-field transport environments. He received his PhD from UC Berkeley and spent several years in the Used Fuel Systems Group at ORNL supporting DOE priorities on the back end of the fuel cycle. Prior to joining NAC, Dr. van den Akker served as the Director managing the global corporate used nuclear fuel management strategy for Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation.
