Biography

Jay L. Barrett is the principal at the nationally recognized AmTech Career Academy, a 9-12 CTE campus in Amarillo, TX. He has 40 years of public education service at all levels. In May 2023, Jay won re-election to the Aspen Prize-winning Amarillo College Board of Regents for the 2nd consecutive time, now beginning his 10th year of service to the Board. He also serves as the immediate past Chair of the Community College Association of Texas Trustees. Jay's awards include the 2023 Amarillo Citizen on the Move, the 2022 First Tech Challenge Robotics Compass Award, and the 2019 HEB North Texas Secondary Principal of the Year.
