Savannah River National Laboratory
Connie Herman is the Associate Laboratory Director of the Environmental & Legacy Management Directorate at Savannah River National Laboratory. She has a B.S. in Ceramic Engineering and 34 years of experience in the processing of radioactive waste in the US and with international partners including start-up and operations of the Savannah River Site's DWPF. Connie manages R&D programs to process nuclear materials, treat and immobilize radioactive waste, remediate contaminated soil and groundwater, and deactivate and decommission excess nuclear facilities in support of the DOE EM and LM missions. She also manages Biology and Materials Science competencies to develop innovative materials for environmental and energy applications.
