Biography

Jeffrey Avery is the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary at the DOE Office of Environmental Management (EM-2) providing management oversight of activities, operations, and program integration. Prior to joining EM, he served at Naval Reactors (NR) for over 26 years in various program management, policy, and technical roles. Most recently, he worked as the Director of Regulatory and Security Affairs. In a prior role at NR, he was responsible for global nuclear powered ship port entry, nuclear propulsion technology exchange with the UK, nonproliferation, and export control policy. Avery has a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue, a Master’s in Engineering Management from Old Dominion, a BA from Indiana University.
