Biography

Dr. Kondo Shunsuke is President of NUMO and Emeritus Professor of the University of Tokyo. He received his Doctorate in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Tokyo in 1970. He became a Lecturer in 1970, an Associate Professor in 1971 and a Professor of Nuclear Engineering at the University of Tokyo in 1984 and remained there until 2003. He was appointed by the Prime Minister as the Chairman of Japan’s AEC in 2004 -2014, of which business was to act as a guardian of the fundamental principles for Japan to promote the R&D, and utilization of nuclear energy, deciding basic policies.
