Biography

Susan Lomas as been a professional geologist for over 35 years and has worked in mines, exploration projects and now is a consultant who specializes in mineral resource estimations. Susan has worked in over 34 different countries and has managed her own consulting company, LIons Gate Geological Consulting Inc. (LGGC) since 2006. In 2018 Susan founded the Me Too Mining Association to start the conversation about sexual assault and sexual harassment in the mining and mineral exploration industries and impacted communities. The conversation grew quickly and MTMA realized we needed to find solutions and developed the allyship and bystander intervention based DIGGER training program to shift workplace cultures in mining and contribute towards safe, inclusive and respectful workplaces for everyone. In January 2022, the Me Too Mining Association was transitioned to Mine Shift to reflect our growth to be inclusive of anyone in mining who has experienced any form of harassment including sexual harassment, racism or bullying.
