A first gen scholar committed to researching and expanding accessible critical multilingual multiliterate educational practices and programming. Her scholarship upholds onto-epistemic heterogeneity to be able to contribute to educating and advocating for equitable practices in challenging times. She is professor and Chair of the Language, Literacy, and Culture Concentration in the College of Education, at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. As an ethnographer and educational sociolinguist she researches minoritized and diasporic language learners and their teachers in second, foreign language and heritage language contexts to examine critical issues in language and literacy development in multilingual contexts
