Introduction: Foot Pressure Distribution (FPD) measurement plays a pivotal role in analyzing gait and diagnosing foot-related pathologies. Wearing uncomfortable footwear, such as high heels, tight, pointed, or incorrectly sized shoes, can result in abnormal FPD, which may contribute to issues including lower back pain, leg pain, and mild pronation, ultimately affecting overall body balance. Existing methods for assessing FPD often involve high costs and complex, bulky experimental setups, which limit their accessibility and practicality in everyday health monitoring. Objective: This study is aimed at developing a cost-effective, IoT-based smart insole system to measure FPD using force sensitive resistor (FSR) sensors. The goal is to create a simplified and efficient solution suitable for routine use and widespread application. Methodology: The proposed system integrates FSR sensors within the insole, strategically positioned regions to capture pressure data accurately. The sensor outputs are interfaced with a LabVIEW-based graphical user interface, which not only visualizes real-time pressure maps but also facilitates automatic data export to Excel for further analysis. Wireless data transmission enables seamless interaction with IoT devices, facilitating convenient monitoring. Results and Conclusion: This approach enables low-cost, wireless retrieval and visualization of FPD, making the technique precise, efficient, and user-friendly. The proposed methodology is anticipated to enhance the selection of ergonomic footwear, improve personalized foot care, and support early intervention for foot-related disorders, making it a valuable tool for both clinical and daily environments.
