Terrestrial Lava Collecting Robot

Abstract:

Volcanology is the study of volcanoes. Lava samples must be taken from the volcano in order to conduct research on its nature and also still now lot of the people are lives near the volcanos, to alert them due volcano explore we are collecting and testing the lava samples. However, gathering samples of lava is a difficult and dangerous task. We have found a robotic solution to this issue. The proposed lava-collecting robot is made to work in hazardous volcanic environments. It can extract the lava samples and quickly put it into the water. End effector of this robot is made up of cast iron to collect the high temperature lava and the shape of it is like a hook. This robot is a Cylindrical robot, because the work volume of this robot is in Cylindrical in shape. The robot can be programmed or remotely operated to collect samples safely and precisely, navigate dangerous terrain, and tolerate high temperatures. In addition to lowering the risks to human life, this solution enhances the safety. We had used AI also in this robot. This robot has some sensor at the front frame of the body. Sensors like proximity sensor, temperature sensor are used to find the temperature of lava and how far it’s from the robot. This robot is a semi automatic robot i.e. humans should operate this robot, so there is not unemployed will arise. The maximum size of the robot is 1.5x0.8x1 m and the weight of the robot is above 60 kg. This robot is simple in construction compare with other robots. The speed of the robot is little slower than other robot, because in lava collecting we should work slowly and we need to take more care. The top layer has covered with strong metals alloys and the end effector has only made by cast iron. This robot wheels are road wheels, so it can move in high risky paths also. The fuel tank is present at inside the body to protect it from the surrounding temperature. The electrical circuit connections are kept inside the robot body. The joint little tighter to lift lava samples. Here infrared camera is used to find the temperature of collecting lava samples. The neck of the camera is designed as twisting rod. We won’t use hydraulic or pneumatic lifting pipe here, because due to the high temperature i.e. during lifting, pipes may malfunction. Instead of this we used strong steel rope and motors.
