Dr. Enitan Sogbesan was educated at the University of Lagos Nigeria, University of Toronto, Canada and the Universities of Bristol and London, England for post graduate studies in Advanced Ophthalmology and public health. He did his residency at the University of Ottawa Eye Institute and fellowship in Glaucoma and anterior segment at the University of Alberta. He is presently at McMaster University and is an Associate Professor and Residency Program Director in the division of ophthalmology of the department of surgery.
He is involved in the development of ophthalmology clinical skills and an online Ophthalmology Teaching Module for undergraduate education; basic ophthalmology clinical skills course and ophthalmic wet lab for the postgraduate education program and the inter-professional Program for Faculty Development at the FHS, McMaster University. He is the chair of the planning committee of McMaster Interprofessional Forum for Eye Health and a member of the Paul Stringer Clinical Day in Ophthalmology. He is a member of the University Faculty of Health Science and the Department of Surgery Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Advisory groups.
He is a member of the African Glaucoma Consortium and the International Teleglaucoma Society Advisory Board. He is the Canadian Glaucoma Society representative on the International Council of Ophthalmology and the chair of the National Glaucoma Awareness Committee and the World Glaucoma Week. He was involved in the Continuing Professional Development Council of the Canadian Ophthalmological Society through its Digital Technology Online Learning Education Committee. He is also a member of a number of national and international Professional Organizations (COS, CGS, AAO, ARVO, AGS, ISCRS, ASCRS, ESCRS, ACS, ISGS, OMA, CMPA). He is also a member of the executive committee of the Canadian Association of Public health and Global Ophthalmology (CAPHGO) and the treasurer of the Eye Physician and Surgeons of Ontario, the OMA section on Ophthalmology. His research focus are in Clinical and Public Health Ophthalmology, Teleglaucoma, Interprofessional Collaboration, Diversity and Inclusion, Ophthalmic Health Economics and Simulations.
