Biography

Professor of Educational Leadership at Lewis University in Illinois, where she directs a doctoral program focused on transformative leadership. She started her teaching career as a middle school teacher in Chicago and Urbana, IL. Her dissertation research explored the lives of Puerto Ricans in the Chicago Public Schools. Dr. Dávila is a proud native of Chicago with Puerto Rican roots who earned her doctorate and master's degree in Educational Policy Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Sociology from Northeastern Illinois University. She served as President of the Critical Race Studies in Education Association from 2019-2021. During the 2022-2023 academic year she was awarded a visiting research fellowship at the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame while she works on a book manuscript highlighting the educational justice work of women activists in Chicago.
