Biography

Dr. M. Ilhan Akbas is an Associate Professor at the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU). He leads the Flexible and Intelligent Complex Systems (FICS) research group. FICS works on complex systems, autonomy, machine learning and their applications on cyber-physical systems, which operate in dynamic environments while maintaining efficiency, safety and security. FICS researchers develop methods and algorithms for decision making in high-dimensional, probabilistic scenarios. Dr. Akbas is also the co-director of Wireless Devices and Electromagnetics (WiDE) Lab, a leadership member of the Center for Aerospace Resilient Systems (CARS) and a member of the Advanced Air Mobility Research and Innovation Lab (AAMRIL) at ERAU. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, and a member of ACM, AIAA, SAE, IEEE Communications Society, IoT and Cloud Computing Communities, International Alliance for Mobility Testing and Standardization (IAMTS), Complex Systems Society and Cyber Safety Commercial Aviation Team (CSCAT).
