Biography

Melinda Higgins is the Director of STEM Programs in the Office of Nuclear Energy (NE) at the United States Department of Energy. Her background as a teacher, leader, mentor, and researcher in STEM education laid the groundwork for leading efforts on a federal level to enhance equal access to STEM opportunities for all. The NE STEM engagement and outreach efforts work to raise awareness of STEM careers for economic empowerment, especially in the nuclear energy fields. Melinda continues to lead Tribal Outreach and Engagement in collaboration with the Tribal Working Groups at the Department of Energy to support Tribal interests.
