Biography

Olivia R. Cantrell is in her second year of pursuing a Bachelor's Degree of Astrophysics at New Mexico Tech. Olivia began her first Los Alamos National Laboratory internship in 2021 which allowed her to explore models of long gamma-ray bursts to help understand their potential progenitor systems. In the summer of 2022, Olivia worked with LANL to develop fully automated waste storage and retrieval systems and was the lead of the Light Detection and Ranging aspect of the project. Currently, Olivia is researching lightning through instrumentation and data analysis at the Langmuir Laboratory for atmospheric research at New Mexico Tech.
