Biography

Rose Montgomery joined Oak Ridge National Laboratory in 2016 after working >23 years in industry as a nuclear fuel and shipping/storage container designer. Rose leads the Used Fuel Disposition team and is ORNL’s PI for the “Sister Rod” project, a part of the High Burnup Spent Fuel Data Project sponsored by the US DOE-NE. The project is focused on PIE of 25 high burnup (HBU) commercial spent fuel rods. The detailed examinations are providing essential information on the physical state of the HBU rods and any changes resulting from interim dry storage and eventual transportation to a repository.
