Biography

Osvaldo Pensado holds a PhD in Engineering Science and Mechanics from the Pennsylvania State University, and a degree in Physics and Mathematics from University of the Americas-Puebla, Mexico. He is a Staff Scientist at Southwest Research Institute, where he has worked on problems related to corrosion of metallic materials, radioactive waste management, nuclear power plant safety, and risk assessment, with more than 50 publications in the peer-reviewed literature and two patents related to corrosion detection methods. Dr. Pensado has written numerous technical reports for the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and several on radionuclide transport for the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority.
