Biography

Susan Smith is a gamma spectroscopy expert working in the fields of waste, nuclear material control and accountability, international safeguards and nuclear security. She has experience with nondestructive assay system design and specification, experimental design, data analysis, programmatic assessments, training development and instruction. Susan is currently a Nuclear Safeguards Engineer at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and worked previously at Canberra Industries in various roles including Senior Systems Scientist. Susan earned a B.S. in Engineering Physics and Nuclear Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a S.M. in Nuclear Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
