Biography

When I chose to dedicate my intellectual and academic pursuits to the field of chemistry there were many different areas to choose from. Having always had an interest in nuclear chemistry, I joined the DOE Fellows program at FIU, where my work involves the remediation of soil, groundwater and perched water that has been contaminated with harmful contaminants–including radioactive elements, such as, Tc-99, U-238. This work has excited and spawned in me a passion for environmental chemistry. I know environmental chemistry will be a rewarding career path for me personally, but the positive impact on the environment and human health is my primary motivation.
