Biography

Dave Newland has 30 plus years experience in the nuclear industry, the most recent 22 with the nuclear regulator of Canada, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission. Dave currently holds the position of Director General of the Directorate of Nuclear Cycle and Facilities Regulation which leads the regulatory programs for all waste management activities and facilities. Prior to this position, Dave was the lead for the Commission in relation to implementing the Government-owned Contractor-operated model for the Government of Canada’s waste facilities and sites, including working with all parties to ensure regulatory satisfaction with the business arrangements.
