Biography

Dr. James Rubenstone is the Acting Director of the Yucca Mountain Directorate, Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards (NMSS), U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. His current responsibilities include managing NRC activities on review of the proposed Yucca Mountain repository for commercial spent nuclear fuel and high-level radioactive waste. Since joining the NRC in 2003, Dr. Rubenstone has worked primarily on the safe and secure management of spent nuclear fuel and high-level waste. He holds a B.Sc. degree from the College of William and Mary and a Ph.D. in Geological Sciences from Cornell University.
