Shalina Bottorff is a chemistry doctoral candidate at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. As a senior member in Professor Paul Benny’s lab, she manages lab safety, supervises first year graduate students and undergrads, and serves as lead on several interdisciplinary research projects. Her research focuses on repurposing applications to develop a more sustainable fuel cycle through the isolation of stable and radioactive components from Legacy Defense Waste and reprocessed nuclear fuel. Ms. Bottorff holds a Bachelor’s degree from San Jose State University in California, and is scheduled to earn her doctorate this May.
