Biography

Robert Lapierre is a student and DOE Fellow at Florida International University working in pursuit of his Master's in Chemistry. He works at FIU's Applied Research Center as part of a DOE-FIU Workforce Development Program. This program is funded by the US Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management (DOE-EM) and promotes students within the STEM disciplines to pursue research regarding the Department of Energy’s ongoing environmental cleanup challenges. Working under his mentor, Dr. Yelena Katsenovich, his research focuses on the remediation of radionuclide contaminants in the Hanford 200 Area, specifically the sequestration of uranium in the unsaturated vadose zone.
