Biography

Jean-Yves Le Déaut is a member of French Parliament for Meurthe-et-Moselle since 1986 and the Chairman of the Parliamentary Office for Scientific and Technological Assessment (OPECST). On behalf of the latter, he has published over a dozen reports on matters as diverse as GMOs, Energy savings in buildings and Management of radioactive wastes. Furthermore, he is the author of several reports commissioned by the Prime Minister. He is also Member of the French Strategic Committee for Scientific Research. Holding a Ph.D in Science, he started his career as Professor at Henri Poincaré University and Chairman of its Bioscience Laboratory·
