Katy Lu has a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State. Within her 30-year career at LLNL, she’s contributed to the Weapons Program for over 20 years: first as a Weapons Device Engineer with expertise in hardware engineering; detailed knowledge of design, fabrication, inspection; and assembly of precision, high explosive test assemblies. Katy is currently Deputy Program Director for the Weapons Infrastructure Program and supports the W80-4 LEP and W87-1 Modification Program. As such, she focuses on acquisition of infrastructure capabilities to support LLNL’s NNSA Modernization programs.
