Biography

Shona Thompson is a Senior Project Officer in the Wastes and Decommissioning Division at the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC), Canada’s independent nuclear regulator. Shona has a bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. She has worked in the area of waste management and decommissioning for 9 years with the CNSC, and has worked on projects spanning from Nuclear Power Plants to low-level radioactive waste processing sites. Furthermore, Shona is Canada’s National Point of Contact for the Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management.
