Biography

Caridad Estrada is a graduating senior studying Environmental Engineering at Florida International University, with experience in environmental compliance, bioremediation, and a passion for environmental health and sustainability. She is currently an NSF LSAMP Scholar, McNair Scholar, and Department of Energy Fellow at FIU, where she researches remediation technologies for mercury contamination. In addition, her devotion as Outreach Director of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) contributes to the advancement of minorities in STEM. Hailing from the Caribbean her upbringing and exposure to extreme weather events has influenced her decision to further her professional career in the area of environmental management.
