Biography

Paolo Peerani got his MSc and a PhD in Nuclear Engineering at the University of Bologna. He spent twelve years at ENEA working in the field of nuclear reactor design. Then he joined the European Commission Joint Research Centre where he worked 6 years at the Institute of Transuranium Elements in Karlsruhe (Germany) on Non-Destructive Analysis applied to nuclear safeguards. In 2000 he moved to the JRC site of Ispra (Italy). focussing mainly in NDA techniques, neutron counting, Monte Carlo simulation applied to nuclear safeguards and homeland security. In December 2015 he was appointed Head of Unit in charge of nuclear decommissioning and waste management.
