Biography

Dr. David Hatchett assumed the Interim Vice President of Research at UNLV in October 2022. He has also served as the associate vice president of research and executive director of research infrastructure at UNLV. UNLV is an MSI/HIS and AANAPIsi degree granting RI (research intensive) institution with one of the most diverse student bodies in the US. Dr. Hatchett’s research combines the areas of materials and electrochemistry in pursuit of strategic materials recovery. His laboratory has developed methods for the direct dissolution and recovery of strategically important materials including Li, actinides (Uranium) and lanthanides (rare earth elements) from purely ionic liquid solutions.
